Of course we went there!! We saw the queues and knew it must be the place to visit. We had to sample their Vanilla Slices as tomorrow we will be moving on to Tatura - apparently home to the "best Vanilla Slices in Australia". So how could we compare unless we had sampled some others! Rating given to Beechworth Vanilla Slice is an 7 out of 10. Not too sweet, custard firm and luscious, pastry not as flaky as we expected but drool on!! Further reports will be forthcoming as we sample the delights of bakeries across Vic & SA. We were forced to do this because of the many people who wanted to know if their favourite bakeries were still up to scratch. ps. sorry there is no picture of the actual slice but the camera shutter speed wasn't fast enough to capture the tasting.
